Turning the Science of Connection Into Action

We know a great deal about the causes and consequences of social disconnection. Our Behavioral Science Council focuses on finding and scaling solutions.

Founding Council Members

Chaired by Dr. Nicholas Epley of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Council brings together leading researchers to understand how we can build connection through life transitions, institutions and systems, community engagement, and prosocial habits.

Life Transitions
Helping people build and sustain relationships during pivotal moments such as relocation, parenthood, career changes, and retirement.

Institutions & Systems
Understanding how employers, schools, cities, and other institutions can make social connection easier and more accessible.

Community Engagement
Discovering what motivates people to participate, build trust, and form relationships through shared activities and identities.

Prosocial Habits
Identifying the behaviors and interventions that help people reach out, connect with others, and make relationship-building part of everyday life.

Our first annual report reveals where everyday social connection is breaking down — and introduces a practical, data-backed blueprint for rebuilding social bonds, trust, and belonging across communities.
